Customer challenge
ekomia started 10 years ago and is now a sought-after label for ecological design furniture. The used wood, oil, colours and also the packaging are sustainable. So far, only a few market players offer this. The special furniture is popular with very demanding customers who usually ask a lot of questions and expect high-quality delivery.
The challenge for the online furniture retailer, still young in 2014, was to deliver particularly large and heavy goods such as beds, tables and shelves quickly to recipients throughout Germany and also to satisfy the requirement for transparent customer communication.
Our solution
For the large and bulky goods, ekomia worked with a freight forwarding network with whose services they were dissatisfied. There was no proper IT system and customers usually had to wait five weeks for their furniture to be delivered. ekomia also missed fast communication to the end customer. Therefore, the start-up was looking for a reliable logistics solution with fast delivery times and customer-focused communication.
