Here's how it works

  1. Log in and unlock: Log in with your DHL customer account data and activate the Packstation area once to see the pick-up code and location for your shipments.
  2. Activate device: In order to be able to use Packstations in the future, you must activate your device once in advance - there are various methods available to you here, e.g. by scanning your customer card or an activation code. Important: After activation, you will no longer receive a pick-up code by e-mail, but only need the Post & DHL app to use all Packstations. More information on the new operation of the Packstation.
  3. Push notifications: Activate push notifications in the Post & DHL app under More > Settings > Push notifications to be informed when a shipment is deposited for you.

The Post & DHL app is a free application that allows you to access our most important parcel and letter services on your smartphone at any time. The Post & DHL app combines the DHL Paket app and the Post mobil app.

With the Post & DHL app, you benefit from lots of useful information about your shipment, e.g.

Shipment tracking for letters and parcels

You can use the app to view all the information about your shipment

  • Push notification on the current shipment status
  • Flexibly change delivery options (e.g. storage location) of a shipment
  • DHL Live Tracking (for selected parcel shipments)
  • Basic shipment tracking for letters with matrix code

Online franking

In the app, you can conveniently buy your postage stamps on the go

  • Online franking for parcel and package shipping within Germany, the EU and the world

You buy your parcel stamp as usual via DHL Online Franking or the Post & DHL app.

In your order confirmation e-mail, you will always receive a PDF download link and a QR code for shipments within Germany or the EU (with the exception of parcels with insurance).

Decide for yourself whether you:

  • use the link to download the shipping stamps as a PDF and print them out yourself

or

  • Alternatively, show the QR code on your smartphone or tablet at a DHL location, such as a branch or Packstation, or to the DHL delivery agent of your choice and have the stamp printed out there / by them.

You can also save your mobile parcel stamp from the order confirmation directly in your Apple Wallet (Passbook).

To establish a Bluetooth connection with the app-controlled Packstation machine, you need the Post & DHL app and an active Internet and Bluetooth connection.

To establish the connection, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the Packstation, open the Post & DHL app and click on the "Packstation" area.
  2. Then select the action you want to carry out at the app-controlled Packstation. For example, if you are expecting a parcel addressed directly to the Packstation, it will be displayed as ready for collection in the "Packstation" area so that you only need to click on it. Otherwise, tap on "Send" or "Pick up".
  3. Agree to the location sharing and use of Bluetooth by the Post & DHL app. Your smartphone will then automatically connect to the station via Bluetooth using the Post & DHL app (Note: You do not need to switch to the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone to do this). As soon as you have successfully connected to the station, the LED next to "Connected" in the centre of the system lights up blue/green.

Please also note the following information:

  • Make sure that the app-controlled Packstation is in operation. You can recognise this by the green LED next to "In operation" in the centre of the system.
  • Please stand directly in front of the Packstation. The connection can only be established within a maximum radius of three metres.
  • If problems occur when establishing a connection, disconnect the Bluetooth connection to other devices such as headphones or smartwatches.
  • If the station is already being used by another customer or delivery person, wait briefly until they have completed the process.

There may be the following reasons why you have not received the pick-up code:

  • You are not logged into the Post & DHL app with your DHL customer account. To receive the pick-up code, you must be logged into the app with your DHL customer account.
  • You have only looked under "Track" in the app. The pick-up code is displayed in the "Packstation" section of the app.
  • The mobile phone number you entered is incorrect. Make sure that the mobile phone number you have saved in your customer account does not contain any errors.
  • You do not have an activated device. To be able to receive a pick-up code via the Post & DHL app, you need to activate your device once. To do this, click on Activate now in the "Packstation" section of the app and follow the instructions in the app.
  • No pick-up code is required to collect your shipment. This can happen, for example, if your Packstation shipment is redirected to a nearby branch. In this case, you only need your identity card to collect the shipment. It could also be that your shipment is classed as a notified shipment. Notified shipment are parcels that could not be delivered to your home and were then redirected to a Packstation. In this case, all you need to collect the shipment is your notification card.

If none of these cases apply and you cannot retrieve the pick-up code for other reasons, proceed as follows:

  • Log out of your customer account in the app and log in again. This may solve the problem.
  • If you are using a DualSIM/MultiSIM, check which number is linked to receive text messages and compare it with the mobile phone number stored in your customer account.
  • Deactivate your device (in the "More" section of the Post & DHL app on "Settings > "Device activation" > "Manage devices") and reactivate it via the Post & DHL app.

No, the Post & DHL app can also be used without a DHL customer account.

However, registered customers benefit from many additional functions that are available to them in the app, such as

Shipment tracking

  • Automatic recording of incoming shipments in the personal shipment overview
  • As part of DHL Live Tracking: Parcel notification with a 90-minute delivery window and, for many shipments, an additional notification approx. 15 minutes before delivery
  • Digital notifications when your shipment is delivered to a desired location, neighbour or branch
  • Save and manage up to 100 shipments in the shipment overview

Franking

  • Synchronisation of DHL online franking shopping baskets with your DHL customer account
  • Store favourites in your DHL customer account for pre-filled address fields
  • Collect bonus points for parcel stamps that you buy in the app
